Ifenna’s diary

  •               IFENNA

They all have ‘biyu’’
I have one
Not one of you
Just a part of my heart is left
A presence feels Different
I’ll pass, you’re absent
Hoping it’s just an empty seat in class
You took Ill
You’ll probably resume by sunrise
A day, two still not found
I’ll check up on you when I come around
Items intact
Where would you’ve gone without even a note to keep our minds at rest?
I’ll give you time
You probably have a lot going on
I’ll check up on you later on
A day, two still not found
Wherever you’re hiding its making my heart skip in rounds
You’ll probably creep in at sunset
I’ll hang around to grab you by your wrist
Opened my eyes to you laying still in a rectangular box
I can’t remember this being yours
I kept vigil
Still
Waiting for you to pop your eyes
It’s been three years
Sleeping for years
I’ve graduated from OUR class
Carrying the empty seat like an accessory
Your rectangular box shut

Ifenna’s diary

Ifenna

Perceived you as strong
Strength eluded you
Fell when you really should’ve stood
A stitch in time saves nine
Left just before I came to amend mine
How often do you think I withdrew
Did you think enough of what I’d go through
Do you consider yourself selfish
No, you rather became ashes
Prioritizing your pain
Ways to make you numb then
You really think we’ll take in all the pills that belonged to you
They’re so hard to swallow
maybe because they’re really meant for you
Arranged in your medicine bag just the way you left it
Hoping you’ll come one last

You really should have said a goodbye first
